Anyways so today's topic was the difference between obedience and compliance. This is what I got..
Obedience = Following the gospel, keeping the commandments, choosing the right.. doing all of the those things and more with a willingness of heart, mind and spirit. Having a positive attitude.
Compliance = Basically doing something, for in this case "obeying" but only doing it because "YOU feel like you HAVE to" not because "you WANT to"
does that make sense?
Being truly obedient we feel better about who we are and why we're here, we have a better attitude when it comes to following and keeping all of Gods commandments, and we have more of a motivation to continue being obedient because we're happy and we know it's right.
I KNOW. For a fact, that this has happened to me. Heaps of times. And let me just tell you. When ever I'm obedient and doing it out of the willingness of my heart, I feel like performing a High School Musical number right where I'm standing because I know that the Lord is happy with what I've been doing. Being willing to obey with a positive attitude, and loving it.
okay. maybe not an actual HSM number but you get my point right?
If God knows everything and wants us to be happy, wouldn't it make sense to listen to what he says and obey his guidelines for happiness? Spiritual power comes as a natural result of obeying celestrial law.
True. That.
"Once obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest,
in that moment God will endow us with power."
